After pursuing a degree in Adventure Therapy at Unity College in Maine, Augusta, ME residential service professional Heather Steckino never imagined she’d be working in pest control. But with more than four years under her belt, this is a job she’s really come to enjoy. Working remotely, Heather starts her day in Raymond and covers several towns in central Maine from South Paris to Monmouth.
When she got out of school, Heather needed a good job. She saw the ad for a service professional at Modern Pest Services and was hired on the spot. Now, she’s only one of two women service professionals at the company. “I’m not a ‘desk job’ type of person, so this position has worked well for me,” explains Heather. She didn’t know a lot about bugs or pest control, but learned quickly.
Heather likes meeting with her clients and they definitely like her. “Heather has a great rapport with clients,” states her previous boss Paul Lavallee. “The last time I was with her for the day I heard compliments about her work from literally every client that was home and she even had a lady give her a hug when we arrived. There is no question that she makes a good impression on people.”
Heather and her husband, Chris enjoy lots of outdoor adventures including kayaking, winter camping, skiing and snow shoeing and are often accompanied by their Siberian Husky, Tikaani.
