The Modern Pest team is pleased to announce the addition of an electric bike to our transportation fleet. The Portland, Maine branch recently acquired an e-bike to be used on the islands off the coast of Maine. The Modern Pest Service Professional will bring the e-bike with them on the ferry to the islands and zip around to their scheduled services.
“We are proud to launch our use of electric bikes on the islands of Maine, and to offer residents a sustainable, green pest control solution,” Portland branch manager Rich Sevigney said.

Modern’s Portland branch services Chebeague, Peaks, Great Diamond, Little Diamond, and Long Island. The Katahdin branch handles Bailey and Cliff Island.
Modern currently has one e-bike to use on the islands, but Rich Sevigney said they are in the process of building a fleet of bikes. The current bike is a Heybike Ranger. It has a pure electric range of 40 miles and a pedal-assist range of 55 miles. The bike can carry up to 330 lbs., so it has no problem quietly shuttling a Service Professional and their gear around the islands.

We plan to add more e-bikes to our fleet soon.”
Until Modern acquires more e-bikes, there is only one dedicated island Service Professional and one backup. He has noticed that the bike has been well-received by the locals.
