When you call on Modern for HomeCare Mosquito, Flea, and Tick Service, our communications center will help you fill out a questionnaire about your yard, and answer any questions you have about this service. Some of the more common frequently asked questions are answered below.
HomeCare Mosquito, Flea, and Tick Service
Do I need to be home for my service to be performed?
No. This treatment is an exterior yard treatment and does not require anyone to be home.
If it rains after my HomeCare Mosquito, Flea, and Tick Service is completed, will it be ineffective?
No. Once the product dries and bonds to foliage, the product will not immediately wash away. Typically, the product dries in as little as 15-20 minutes on an average day.
What areas of my yard will be treated?
Treatment is concentrated on the foliage around the perimeter of the yard including 3-5 foot band of transition area of the lawn, where the lawn turns into areas of foliage, and into the wooded area. Treatment will also be made to other areas of foliage and shade around the yard as deemed necessary by the technician.
Why isn't my lawn treated?
Treatment of the lawn is not necessary to control mosquitoes / fleas / ticks. Less than 1% of mosquitoes / fleas / ticks are found in the center of the lawn as the conditions are not favorable for their survival.
How long after my service is complete can my kids/pets go outside?
Modern Pest recommends that kids/pets stay inside while the treatment is being performed and remain there until the product completely dries, which typically happens in as little as 15-20 minutes on an average day.
How long before I will see results and how long will the treatment last?
Results should begin 1-2 days after application is made and last between 3-4 weeks depending on conditions and breeding sites in/around yard.
What kind of results should I expect from my HomeCare Mosquito, Flea, and Tick Treatment?
Results can vary slightly from yard to yard depending on conditions in and around your yard / neighborhood. This is a reduction service and not a complete elimination of the vector species (mosquito / flea / tick). There should be a noticeable reduction in mosquitoes / fleas / ticks in your yard, however, this does not mean that your yard will have no activity or result in zero bites.
I have a well on my property, will this be a problem?
No. This treatment is applied using a cold mistblower or backpack sprayer to foliage around your property and will not contaminate ground water or wells as it does not leach into the ground.
I have a garden and fruit trees on my property, will they be treated?
Gardens, herbs, and fruit trees will not be treated. The products we use for control of mosquitoes / fleas / ticks are not systemic and will not enter root systems or interior of fruits, herbs, and vegetables. Please make us aware if your yard contains any of these conditions so that we can treat accordingly. It is always recommended to wash these items prior to consumption.
Do I need to prepare for the treatment?
Yes, preparation for your HomeCare Mosquito, Flea, and Tick Service consists of making sure that all locked areas are open, all children’s toys and items in the yard are cleared, and pets are left inside in case nobody is home when we arrive. Your lawn should also be mowed 1-2 days prior to service.
I had service, but I still see bugs in my yard. Why?
This service is not designed to rid your yard of all insects, but rather is highly targeted for mosquitoes / fleas / ticks.
